About the event
Welcome to Hub Town's Thursday Night Fall Cornhole League! And no we aren't playing outside this time but we promise, it will still be an adventure!
Join us at Hub Town's FALL/WINTER Cornhole location, the Elks Club, conveniently located right across the street from the brewery at 58 Elizabeth Street, for 12 weeks of indoor cornhole madness! As always, all skill levels are welcome and a desire to have fun is mandatory. That said, it's ok to kick butt if you want...we won't hold that against you.
If you choose to join us, here's how it will work:
HUB TOWN CORNHOLE League:
1. League will have a maximum of EIGHTEEN (18) teams in total.
2. Teams of four (4) people and all must be 16+ - If you sign up as a pair, you CAN PLAY AS A LONE TEAM but you won't be eligible for the attendance point each night unless you have 3+ people so let us know if you need a pair to join you and make a full team.
3. Cost to sign up for all 12 weeks of cornhole is $200/team if you pre-register - If you choose to drop in, the cost is $20/person nightly.
4. Games begin at 6:30pm every week.
5. Each night will consist of up to 6 games per team - game points will be earned each week and accumulated for ranking.
6. Two (2) players from each team will play each game - each team member should be rotated in during the evening so everyone gets to play.
7. If you can't make a game night, you can invite ANYONE YOU WANT to play in your place for the evening! This is a fun league and we want to meet as many people as possible anyway!
8. Teams will do a “toss-off” to determine which cornhole team will go first. This is when one person from each team tosses one bean bag and closest to the hole wins and goes first in play.
9. Each game won will earn the team one (1) point (maximum of 6 game points each night) - accumulated for ranking.
10. One point will be awarded for fielding a minimum of 3 players (maximum of 1 attendance point each night) - accumulated for ranking.
11. TOTAL POINTS (game points and attendance points) will be displayed on the leader board weekly. NOTE: in the event of a "tie" in points at the end of the season, point differential will be used to determine the winner. If this does not produce a difference, a coin toss will be used.
12. The team(s) with the highest TOTAL POINTS at the end of the last season night "WIN" some great prizes and even get their team name on the covetted cornhole cup!
IMPORTANT LEAGUE DATES:
- Season Kick Off: Thursday, Sept. 21st/2023
- Season End: Thursday, Dec. 7th/2023
Note:
- Teams of four (4) are required, however, YOU CAN PLAY AS A TEAM OF 2, you will just not qualify for your attendance point. So let us know if you want to be paired up with others to make a full team.
- If you're a single, we will do our best to find enough people to create a team for you. That will then become your team for the season.
- If you want to have more people your team, go for it!
The rules:
- There will be 8 Cornhole Bags, 4 of each colour to be used by two teams during play.
- You CAN use your own regulation bags if you choose but some will be provided if needed.
- The boards will be placed regulation distance from each other.
Cornhole Game Play:
- Two teams of two people, termed partners, will play at one time. Partners will stand at opposite cornhole boxes on the same side, from the perspective of a third person, and face each other, so there is no advantage given to one team.
- Each cornhole team will have 4 bags of one color.
- All 8 cornhole bags begin at one end.
- A “toss-off” will determine which cornhole team will go first in round one. This is when one person from each team tosses one bean bag and closest to the hole wins and goes first in play.
- The team that goes first will begin play by throwing a cornhole bag at the opposite cornhole box.
- A cornhole player may throw from anywhere behind the front of the cornhole box they are throwing from.
- Game continues by alternating throws between the two opponent players until all 8 cornhole bags have been thrown.
- If a cornhole bag hits the ground then bounces up onto the board, that bag will be taken off the playing surface and cannot score.
- The cornhole game continues until one team reaches 21 or more points (yes you can go over 21 and win)
Scoring:
- The score will be calculated after all cornhole bags have been thrown for a round.
- Points shall be given as follows:
- 3 points for a cornhole bag that goes through the hole.
- 1 point for a cornhole bag that is on the playing surface.
- 1 point for a cornhole bag that is hanging into the hole.
- 1 point for a cornhole bag that is hanging off the edge but not touching the ground.
- 0 points for a cornhole bag that is on the playing surface, but also touching the ground.
- 0 points for a cornhole bag that is hanging off the front edge and is resting on a cornhole bag that is on the ground (unless the cornhole bag on the ground can be removed without making the hanging bag fall to the ground, then one point is given).
- The cornhole team with the highest game score, adds the difference of the two scores to their game score. Example: Team A = 8 points and Team B = 4 points, therefore 8 - 4 = 4 points scored by Team A
- Up to six games are played each night.
- All game scoring will be done through Scoreholio.
